During the tournament, it would not sort out real ranks in the interface. It would say: #1 [Cry] 3/1, #2 poopguild 0/3, #3 mediocreguild 2/1, #4 goodguild 3/0. It wasn't sorted at all, therefore it was very hard to see what opponent you might face or what rank you were on the tournament.

Hmm every game I watched was 2 hexways so I stopped watching. The final match between Vd and Pnh was a nice one though...nice to see a couple of "balanced looking" builds go at it for a change.
Tournaments still need to be fixed though.

The tournament was riddled with balanced builds.

- nah, 7-8 hours and playing until 5am isn't a problem. Just wait until the next 2 tournaments that last until 6 and 7am.

I hope the playoffs fell under the "show us how hexes are broken" weeklong event.

NOTE: There's NO information about the additional matches on NCJ(Japanese) official GW site.
From what I read on HAnD's officers' blog, SpNv didn't know there was Single Elimination this time. Some members were already offline and they had no way to take part in playoff. GG
On the other side, HAnD managed to join the fight against vD thanks to a member noticed the count down 3minutes before the time was running out. (others were watching replays on obs mode at that time) They didn't have time to make preparations for single elimination matches.
It seems June monthly tourney was disastrous for Japanese guilds.

Why does such an extreme lack of information NOT suprise me?
Now here's another note that will blow your socks off:
If you didnt know it yet: Last playoffs my previous guilds Underachieving College Students [UCS] forfeited the tournament cos 1 of our players dropped 1second before the countdown ended. There were no admins online or any developers contactable so we got assraped.
This time, i looked at the rules and it said: "Arenanet holds the right to restart matches whenever they want" so it made me conclude that they would have admins online andpeople actually watching the tournament.
Agony Realm [AR] an extremely good Italian guild had the same problem, their leader erorred 10seconds before the countdown ended, and they forfeited the tournament. However, YET AGAIN there was no admin online. AR would've 100% certainly made top16 which means that my own guilds (bambis dont say meow) would not have made it. Also, AR would've had a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing good chance to actually become the rank1 with their superdefensive playstyle. But yet again Arena.Net seems to think that a tournament with no moderation AT ALL is the win.

I also felt there the tournament was lacking general information. That really sucks if SpNv forfeited because this. I know our guild wasn't really expecting the single elimination to be played immidiately after, but luckily we waited in the hall to make sure whether the tournament was over or not for the day.

It's an automated tournament, you should really start thinking on what that means. It says they can restart matches, and they'll surely do that if for example, as happened, the Obs didn't record the match.
The rules you mentioned clearly state that if your connection decides to bitch, it's all a problem between you and your ass, and abundant vaseline is recommended.
And, as a last note, I understand you're dramatically posing a problem, but AR going for n.1 was as probable as a random 1000ish guild going for top5, and I think you perfectly know that :P :P
And apart from all that, yes I think we all agree that ATS are very far from optimum.

AR have an extremely super defensive playstyle, keeping 3 monks at the stand as much as possible. Kaon's point was due to fact of this defensive playstyle AR did have an extremely large outside opportunity.

Are you saying that Anet should go through all the hassle about implanting a tournament system, getting the prizes, and then screw it over because not even a single 1 of their employees can be bothered to watch? Bullshit.
You really have never played against Agony Realm have you? Because they would've hit top 16 for sure and then it's anyone's bet really.
Yes an error7 is your own problem. And yes it sucks if you loose a match because of it. But a match is something different than the entire RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing tournament. An admin should've been there to add them to the tournament again even with an added loss.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that watching vD was boring as shit. They play super defensively until vod and then ball up archers and whack them with a scythe, and the dervish has shield of deflection covered by prot spirit.
